# SBLOC refi program

The easiest win in your book: refinance an existing SBLOC.

{% hint style="info" %}

## Most clients say yes the moment they see the savings

Clients with an outstanding SBLOC are usually paying a high, non-deductible rate. SyntheticFi can refinance it at a lower rate with generally deductible interest, at no extra cost to the client. Run their numbers and the conversation writes itself.
{% endhint %}

The SBLOC refi is the easiest win in your book. The client is already comfortable borrowing against their portfolio, the math is dollar-for-dollar obvious, and the savings often run into the thousands per month.

### Two things to know

* **The savings are often significant**. SyntheticFi often lands below SBLOC rates\*, and unlike an SBLOC, the interest is generally deductible. Between the lower rate and the deduction, the client often saves on both sides.
* **There's no extra cost to the client.** SyntheticFi covers the transfer. Either we arrange a bridge loan to pay off the old SBLOC and then refinance, or, if the client has another non-pledged brokerage account, we borrow against that to pay off the SBLOC directly.

### How the refi works

1. **Identify the client.** Pull a list of clients with active SBLOCs and sort by balance. The largest balances are the easiest pitches, because the dollar savings are most obvious.
2. **Have the conversation.** Show the rate difference and the annual savings using the Proposal Center in your advisor dashboard. Most clients say yes on the spot. For talking points, see [how to talk to existing clients →](/serving-existing-clients-learn-more/how-to-talk-to-existing-clients.md)
3. **Onboard the client.** Standard SyntheticFi onboarding. [See how to get started →](/product-learn-more/how-to-get-started.md)
4. **SyntheticFi handles the rest.** We coordinate the payoff, open the loan, and clear the SBLOC. The client sees the old balance go to zero and the new SyntheticFi loan appear in their account.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://advisorhub.syntheticfi.com/serving-existing-clients-learn-more/sbloc-refi-program.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
